Starting the Healing Salve

image

Wild hair tonight…..
I decided to make some healing salve tonight but I think I will only get the calendula infused oil done tonight. The oil infusion takes two hours and I really don’t want to stay up that late! Like I said….Wild Hair!

Recipe:
1/4 cup sweet almond oil

1/8 cup olive oil
1/8 cup Vitamin E oil
1/2 cup pure coconut oil
Heat on low heat in pan on stove until coconut oil melts.

Add: 1/3 cup dried calendula petals

Heat on low heat for 2 hours stirring occasionally.

Next, strain the calendula petals into a bowl or cup using a double layer of cheesecloth . Pour the strained oil back into pan.

Add: 1/4 cup beeswax to oil and heat over low heat to melt beeswax.

Remove from heat and let cool for 20 minutes but watch to make sure it doesn’t set up.

Add the following essential oils and stir:
15 drops Lavender
15 drops Melaleuca

Pour into jars or tins. I like to fill a few sample size small containers to give to friends as a gift and the rest into a 4 oz jelly jar for my home.
This recipe makes about 1 cup of salve.
